Juniper Property Group Excellence in Property

The Juniper Group today announced the beginning of construction on the 77 level Soul tower following 14 months of excavation, demolition and the completion of foundation works.

Joint Managing Director, Shaun Juniper, said above ground activities had now commenced on the $850 million Soul project with the retail precinct, the first stage of the iconic development, due for completion in early 2010.

“Soul features a $100 million retail precinct, and in conjunction with plans for a rejuvenated Esplanade, will transform the top end of Cavill Avenue into a contemporary people-friendly area,” Mr Juniper said.

“It is our objective to make Soul ‘THE’ address for premium beach-front living in Surfers Paradise, including a spectacular new shopping and dining experience.”

Grocon CEO, Daniel Grollo, said Grocon had now been on site at Soul for more than a year, with extensive work involved in the demolition of existing buildings and the pilings for the foundations.

“The foundations for the tower were finished last week and we have piled around 40 metres below ground in some of the most complex and detailed piling work ever done in Australia,” he said.

With around 80 people now working on site, Mr Juniper and Mr Grollo said they were now looking forward to the above-ground construction and the building of the retail precinct and tower.

Sales remain solid on the back of last week’s announcement of the sale of another sub-penthouse apartment for $8.65 million.

Group Sales and Marketing Manager, David Kortlang, said Soul has recorded more than $415 million in sales to date.

“We are creating premium beach-front property in one of Australia’s most sought-after locations,” he said.

“The commitment from buyers is testament to our ability to produce apartments of a level of quality and luxury worthy of this irreplaceable site.”

The Juniper Group will officially celebrate the beginning of above ground work on Soul with an event at 4.30pm today on the Esplanade, opposite the site.

Minister for Tourism, Regional Development and Industry, the Hon Desley Boyle, will mark the start of construction with an on site ceremonial concrete pour.
